Agra was founded in 1904 after the Missouri, Kansas and Texas rail line completed that part of its road between Oklahoma City and Parsons, Kansas. Agra was named the Queen City. Lots in Agra were disposed of quickly to eager buyers anticipating a "boom". Agra soon had three hotels, three banks, a lumber company, several general stores, telephone office, drug store, hardware store, meat market, furniture store, photographic gallery and a newspaper, The Queen City Times. Many years ago, Agra ceased to be called the "Queen City". It is now a small country town, but has 3 churches, a restaurant, elementary and high school, post office, and convenience store.
