Agrahara (Arkalgud) is a village in the southern state of Karnataka, India.[1][2] It is located in the Arkalgud taluk of Hassan district in Karnataka.

From Tirinelveli district of Tamil Nadu, few advitha bramhin families populerly known as Sanketis migrated to Karnataka in 13th century and settled in Mysor, Hassan, Mandya, Chikkamagalur and Shimoga districts. 200 years ago, one Mr.Keshava came to the presently called Agrahara and built the village. Later the families af other communities also migrated to this village. The family of Keshava grew up to 100 families. The other families of Sanketi community also migrated to Agrahara. These Sanketies planted cocconut,Araconut and beetel leaf everywhere they lived. They are scholars in Veda and music. They are very populer for hospitality and soft hearts. No other bramin subgroup can be compared with this subgroup in hospitality. The housewives of this Agrahara welcome the meter readers, census teachers, and sales people by offering coffee and juice. Now the Brahmins of this agrahara are spread across India. Many of them are settled in Bangalore, Mysore and Hassan. The Bramhin population in the village has been reduced notably in recent decades due the drastic changes in the villages.
