Alnwick Town A.F.C. is an English association football club based in Alnwick, Northumberland. They are currently members of the Northern League Division Two.

History

Their exact date of formation is unknown, but they are thought to have developed from a club called Alnwick United Services formed in 1879.

The club joined the Northern Alliance league in 1935, and won the title on nine occasions. Several applications to join the Northern League were denied, before that competition expanded to two divisions in 1982, and Alnwick were admitted as founder members of the new division. They spent the majority of the period since in the lower division, a solitary runner-up position in 1988–89 earning them promotion to the upper tier where they managed a two-season spell before being relegated back to Division Two.

In 2007, Alnwick finished bottom of the Northern League Division Two, and were relegated back to the Northern Alliance.

In the FA Cup up to 2005–06, they have lost at the first hurdle, while the same has been true in four out of their five FA Vase campaigns.

Their ground has been St James Park, Weavers Way, since 1900. Since admission to the Northern League, money has been spent on upgrading the facilities, including a clubhouse and floodlights, officially inaugurated by Newcastle United.

The club were promoted back into the Northern League for the 2011–12 season.

Alnwick Town legend Clive Burn was manager during the most successful period in the clubs history.
