Anderson, Rabin and Wakeman[1][2] are a rock band formed in 2010 consisting of former members of the progressive rock band Yes—singer Jon Anderson, guitarist Trevor Rabin, and keyboardist Rick Wakeman. The group have been developing material since their formation, with a tour work expected in 2016–17.

History

Formation

Vocalist Jon Anderson, guitarist Trevor Rabin and keyboardist Rick Wakeman are former members of the progressive rock band Yes, joining the band at different times throughout its history of different line-ups; Anderson co-founded the band in 1968, Wakeman first joined in 1971, and Rabin in 1983. The three only performed together for the 1991–92 Union Tour, but never recorded in a studio together. Away from Yes, Anderson and Rabin, Anderson and Wakeman, and Wakeman and Rabin have worked together in various capacities.

Plans for the group were first mentioned on Wakeman's radio show on Planet Rock in February 2010 when he spoke about a new project with Rabin "and a couple of other ex-members of Yes who will remain nameless".[3] This was later revealed to be the plan to form a supergroup with Anderson, Rabin, Wakeman and former Yes drummer Bill Bruford,[4] although Bruford subsequently denied any involvement.[5] Following the announcement, the project developed slowly after problems over the three members' schedules,[6][7] and secured Brian Lane as their manager, who used to manage Yes in the 1970s and currently manages Wakeman.[8][9]

Developments

In October 2010, Rabin announced the group had yet to formally begin work on the project, but said the three were "really itching" to proceed with it.[10] In June 2011, Anderson revealed the three plan to tour songs from the Yes albums 90125 (1983), Big Generator (1987), and Talk (1994).[11] In January 2016, all three discussed forthcoming plans, including performances at several festivals in 2016 with a set of their new material and Yes music, followed by a tour in 2017. Wakeman noted the group aim to call themselves Anderson, Wakeman and Rabin "for the time being".[12] Anderson predicted a North American tour will occur, when their album is set for release, between October and November 2016 with a set including "one or two songs" from Talk (1994).[13]
