Biography

Andre debuted in music singing the song La Întâlnire (On a Date) presented at the compilation Petrecerea (The party). The song was played on the Romanian radios and soon at all the Romanian televisions that time (TVR, PRO TV, ANTENA 1). The next hit was Liberă La Mare(Alone On the Seaside) which was named the song of the year at Mamaia festival and they received the trophy Bravo for the best dance - pop band in 1999. At the beginning of 2002 they received 4 platinum discs and one golden disc for their 1.200.000 albums sold in 3 years being the most loved Romanian band ever all their albums having a lot of success in Romania, Moldova and Ukraine.

The band split in 2001 when the two singers went their separate ways into solo careers. They are fairly successful, catering to pre-teens as they did before in their early years. But only Andreea Bălan entered in the charts with songs like "Liberă din nou" (Free again), "O străină" (A stranger) and "Nopţi de vară" (Summer nights).

In November 2007, Andreea Bălan participated in a Mexican reality dancing contest, Primer Campeonato Internacional de Baile, along with partner Petrisor Nicolae Ruge. During the competition, they achieved high scores and placed first various weeks. During the show, the host announced that a greatest hits album would be released in the Americas on 2008, including Andreea Bălan's most successful singles. Andreea also performed her first international single called, "Baby, Get Up and Dance", during the competition.

In February 2009, Andreea Balan launched her second single SuperWoman, being preceded by the album with the same name, launched on 4 May.[2]
