The Arakan Rohingya Islamic Front (Burmese: ရခိုင်ပြည်ကရိုဟင်ဂျာအစ္စလာမ့်တပ်ဦး; ARIF) was an Islamist insurgent group in Rakhine State, Myanmar (Burma); consisting of Rohingya fighters led by Nurul Islam, a Yangon-educated lawyer, and the former Vice Chairman of Rohingya Patriotic Front (RPF). The group was created after uniting the remnants of the RPF and a handful of defectors from the RSO.[1]
In 1998 the ARIF was integrated into the Rohingya National Army (RNA), then informally into the Arakan Rohingya National Organization (ARNO) in 2001.
