These are the official results of the Men's 400 metres event at the 1980 Summer Olympics in Moscow. The competition was held from July 27, 1980 and on July 30, 1980.
Final
The Olympic Men's 400m Final was held at the Lenin Stadium, Moscow on 30 July 1980. Following the American-led boycott, the favourite was reigning Olympic champion Cuba's Alberto Juantorena. Alberto, though, suffered an Achilles tendon injury in 1979, consequently his performances suffered. As a result general unknown Viktor Markin, won gold for the Soviet hosts.
