Azdren Gani Llullaku (Serbo-Croat: Azdren Lulaku, Аздрен Лулаку) (born 15 February 1988) is a Kosovan-Albanian professional footballer who plays as a forward for Romanian club CSMS Iași. He was selected once in the Albania national football team in June 2013.
Club career
Early career
Llullaku was born on February 15, 1988 in Istok.[1] Due to the Kosovo War, at age of 12 Llullaku moved to Italy among with his mother and his brother where they placed in Tarzo, a comune (municipality) in the Province of Treviso in the Italian region Veneto.[2] He began his youth career with A.C. Vallata 1999,[3] a team of the third category, the lowest level of "amateur" football in Italy.[4]
Conegliano
In the regional competitions Llullaku revealed himself to be a talented goalscorer and he was recruited by Denis Florin, sporting director of FCD Conegliano Calcio 1907, which played in Eccellenza at that time. Llullaku accept with enthusiasm and played with the juniores team, and after ten matches, he transitioned into the senior team. In the 2004-05 season, Llullaku, at 17, scored three goals in the first team, but especially stood out as a player deserving to be a professional.[5]
A.S.D. Sacilese
He moved into Serie D, joining A.S.D. Sacilese Calcio in 2006.[6]
In the 2006-07 Season he made a total of 31 appearances and scored eight goals.[7]
F.C. Südtirol
In Summer 2007 Llullaku joined Serie C2 side F.C. Südtirol.[6] In the 2007–08 Season he made a total of 12 appearances.[7]
S.S.D. Domegliara
In 2008 he joined Serie D side Domegliara.[6] In the 2008-09 Season Serie D he made a total of 33 appearances and scored 11 goals.[7]
Return to Sacilese
He returned in 2009 to the previous team Sacilese in Lega Pro Seconda Divisione (previous name Serie C2) but didn't made any appearances for entire 2009-10 Season[7] due the law that prohibits the enrollment of non-EU citizens.[5] This made him move to Tamai in Serie D.[6]
A.S.D. Polisportiva Tamai
In the 2010-11 Season he made a total of 33 appearances and scored 22 goals.[7] In February he was elected by the statistics of the Corriere dello Sport as the best striker in the Serie D and is placed in the Top 11 Serie D.
SandonàJesolo
In 2011 he joined fellow Venetian team SandonàJesolo.[6] On 25 September 2011 Llullaku scored by penalty the opening goal in the victory 2–0 against San Giorgio.[8] On 18 December 2011 Llullaku scored Hat-trick to give the clean 3–0 victory SandonàJesolo against I.S.M. Gradisca.[9]
In the 2011–12 Season he made a total of 30 appearances and scored 13 goals.[7] SandonàJesolo finished as the 6th place in the final rank and qualified for the Fourth round of the Promotion play-off as the finalist of 2011-12 Coppa Italia Serie D and were shorted to play against Arezzo. First play-off match against Arezzo played on 27 May 2012 and finished in the goaless draw, then was decided by penalty shoot-out as SandonàJesolo won it by 3–4 result. SandonàJesolo advanced to the Semi-finals where they played against Legnago Salus on 3 June 2012 and won the match with the 2–0 result, in which also Llullaku scored the closing goal in the 51st minute after an personally attack himself.[10] SandonàJesolo managed to get in the Final and they played against Cosenza, where Llullaku scored the 2nd goal advantage but not enough to win the game as Cosenza came from behind to win the match by the 3–2 result.[5]
Llullaku also managed to play in the Coppa Italia Serie D with SandonàJesolo in the 2011–12 Season. SandonàJesolo played in a two-legged match for the semi-final against Bogliasco and the first-leg was won by the 1–0 home result, then in the second leg SandonàJesolo loss by the 2–1 result and they qualyfied due te the away goals rule, where the only away goal was scored by Llullaku himself.[11] They advanced to the final and Llullaku also played in a 2–1 loss for the Cup final match against Sant'Antonio Abate.[12]
At the end of the 2011–12 season many professional clubs like Cremonese and Pordenone wanted to buy Llullaku[13] but his foreign players status doesn't help him.[14]
Gaz Metan Mediaș
After spend 6 years at Italy, on 24 July 2012 after a trial, Llullaku signed for Romanian top division side Gaz Metan Mediaș.
2012–13 season
He made it his debut on 24 August 2012 against Turnu Severin coming on as a substitute in the 39th minute of the first half in place of Radu Zaharia, as the match finished in the victory 2–0.[15] He scored his first goal on 1 December 2012 against CFR Cluj, match finished in the draw 1–1 where Llullaku scored the equalising goal for Gaz Metan Mediaș.[16] On 22 February 2013, Llullaku scored a goal in the victory 3–1 over Gloria Bistriţa, where he scored the opening goal in the 31st minute.[17] On 8 March 2013, he scored twice in the victory against 4–1 Viitorul Constanţa.[18] Llullaku scored on 8 April 2013 a penalty goal to give his team the minimal away victory 0–1 against Concordia Chiajna.[19] Llullaku finished the 2012–13 season mading a total of 22 appearances including 2 for Romanian cup and scoring 5 goals.
2013–14 season
He started 2013-14 season on 20 July 2013, playing against Săgeata Năvodari where he included in the starting line up and substituted off in 77th minute, as the match finished in the 1–0 loss.[20] He scored on 26 July 2013 in the 1–2 loss against FC Botoșani, where Llullaku scored the equalising 1–1 goal in 54th minute.[21] On 25 September 2013, Llullaku scored twice in the Romanian Cup away victory 0–4 over Petrolistul Kaproni Boldești.[22] Llullaku finished the 2013–14 season with a total of 28 appearances, where 9 of them was as a starter, also he registered only one goal. He played also in 2 matches in the Romania cup, scoring also 2 goals.
2014–15 season
Llullaku started the 2014–15 season on 21 July 2014, starting against Pandurii Târgu Jiu in the match valid for 1/8 finals of the 2014–15 Romanian Cup. They lost 0–1 in extra-time after the regular 90-minutes match finished in a goalless draw and Llullaku himself played the entire match.[23] As well with this result Gaz Metan Mediaș were eliminated from the 2014–15 Romanian Cup.[24] He played his first league season match on 27 July 2014 against Botoșani, playing another full match of 90-minutes, as the match finished in the away 0–3 victory.[25] On 8 August 2014 Llullaku scored his first goal of the season in the match against Rapid București where he came in as a substitute in the 66th minute in place of Ciprian Petre and scored in the 90+4' minute the equalising goal to give his team an 1–1 draw.[26] Llullaku scored the 2nd season's goal on 12 September 2014 in the 3–1 loss against Steaua Bucureşti and also he got injured after just kicked the ball cause of an accident collision with opponent player.[27] Llullaku played as a starter on 1 November 2014 against Universitatea Cluj valid for 13th game week and scored the opening goal in the 39th minute, but anyway its goal wasn't enough as Gaz Metan Mediaş conceded an own-goal in the end and the match finished in the 1–1 draw.[28][29] In the 17th game week on 5 December 2014, Llullaku showed his best being decisive by scoring two quick goals against Brașov in the 3rd and 5th minutes to give his team the 2–1 victory.[30] It was the closing match of the year 2014 as the Romanian championship had a 2-months winter pause and returned in February 2015 where Llullaku found himself injured ready to recover and ineligible to play in the two first matches in February. But he returned playing in the 3rd match of the year 2015 against Rapid București on 9 March where he played as a starter until the 58th minute when he substituted off by Alexandru Curtean and however Gaz Metan Mediaş lost the match 0–1 with an early goal in the first-half.[31] Right in the second match of the year 2015 Llullaku returned to score a goal to give his team the 1–1 away draw against Craiova. He came in as a substitute in the 53rd minute in place of Cosimo Figliomeni when the result was 1–0 in the Craiova side since the 16th minute and Llullaku managed to score the equalising goal in the 65th minute to decise the balance.[32]
Llullaku concluded the 2014–15 season with 30 appearances, 16 as a starter and 14 as a substitute in which he scored 8 goals but Gaz Metan Mediaș got relegated as they were ranked in the 13th place of the table, a place which was the higher of the rank which would result relegation.[33]
2015–16 season
Llullaku continued with his club in the 2015–16 Liga II and in the first half of the season he made 15 appearances, 12 as a starter and scored 3 goals.[34]
On 13 January 2016, Llullaku left Gaz Metan Mediaș after 3 and a half seasons where he managed to score 17 goals in 93 league appearances. He announced via his official Facebook profile that he has terminated his contract with the club by mutual consensus, being a Free agent.[35]
CSMS Iași
Llullaku returned back to Liga I as he signed with CSMS Iași on 30 January 2016.[36]
He made it his debut on 13 February 2016 against Viitorul Constanța coming on as a substitute in the 82nd minute in place of Nuno Viveiros.[37]
International career
In April 2013 the FSHF has been reported to have an interest in Llullaku representing Albania and asked him to apply for an Albanian passport (citizenship).[38] On 24 May 2013, Llullaku received the Albanian citizenship among 4 fellow Albanian international players, Jurgen Gjasula, Ilir Berisha, Amir Abrashi and Vullnet Basha.[39]
He received the first call-up from the national team coach Gianni De Biasi who declared that due to the absence of Edmond Kapllani, he had decided to call-up Llullaku to replace him for the match against Norway on 7 June 2013 and this due to his both-wings playing ability.[40] Llullaku was an unused substitute for the entire match as he remained on the bench.[41]
