Ban Pa (Thai: บ้านป่า) is a subdistrict in the Mueang Phitsanulok District of Phitsanulok Province, Thailand.

Geography

Ban Pa is bordered to the north by Thothae of Amphoe Wat Bot, to the east by Wang Thong of Amphoe Wang Thong, to the south by Don Thong and to the west by Hua Ro.[1] Ban Pa lies within the Nan Basin, which is part of the Chao Phraya Watershed. The Wang Yao River flows through the subdistrict.[1]

History

The local legend is that Ban Pa was originally a thick rainforest, settled primarily by Laotian emigrants who cleared the vegetation for farm land.[1] However, much of the land turned out to be unsuitable for agriculture, as the Wang Yao River seasonally floods and dries to too great an extent to sustain profitable farming.[1]

Economy

The economy of Ban Pa is based on agriculture and contract labor.[1]
