Barun Sobti (born 21 August 1984) is an Indian actor.[2]

He started his acting career with the STAR Plus' television series Shraddha. His first noticeable role was of Shravan Jaiswal in Baat Hamari Pakki Hai.

He gained popularity with romantic drama Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon?.

Early life and family

He did his schooling in St. Mark's School, New Delhi.[2] Before entering into entertainment industry, he worked as an operation manager at Jindal Telecom for 7 years.[2] He married his childhood sweetheart Pashmeen Manchanda on 12 December 2010 in a Gurudwara.[3][4]

Career

Sobti first appeared in the spiritual show Shraddha on Star Plus which was stopped abruptly in few months because of the low TRPs. He then did a cameo of Raj in the popular show Dill Mill Gayye . He then did a lead role of Shravan Jaiswal, a comic guy in the television fiction show Baat Hamari Pakki Hai.[5]

Sobti then went on to star in the drama Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon?.[6] He played the character of Arnav Singh Raizada, a rude and suave businessman who passionately falls for a girl.[7] After Sobti announced his "break" from the show producers ended the show.[8][9] In 2013, he was titled the 3rd Sexiest Asian Man by UK magazine Eastern Eye.[10]

He made his Bollywood debut through Main Aur Mr. Riight which released on December 12, 2014.[11]In 2015, he acted in a shortfilm named Dry Dreams based on water conservation.[12]

Sobti has signed Arshad Sayed's Satra Ko Shaadi Hai in 2014 which is set to release in 2016.[13][14][15]
