Basangi is a small village located at Jiyyammavalasa Mandal in Vizianagaram District, a northern coastal districts of Andhra Pradesh, India.

This village is surrounded by the Nagavali River on the west, Gummidi gedda (small river) on the North west. It can be reached by the road connected to the Interstate Highway connecting Parvathipuram in Andhra Pradesh to Gunupur in Orissa.

It has a population of more than 1,500. It has an Upper primary school, which was started in 1926 by Sri Basangi Satyanarayana as a management school. He was the Head Master till his retirement. Later on his son Sri Basangi Ramana and Daughter-in-law Smt. Ammajamma worked there as Teachers/ Head Master for most part of the period from 1960 to 2000. It has a post office. Most of the people in the village are farmers and main crop is Paddy. The village is likely to be rehabilitated to another location as it falls under submergence of ongoing Thotapalli irrigation reservoir project. "Sahasa Veera award" was given to 12-year-old Vamsi of Basangi for saving five girls from drowning in the river Nagavali for the year 2008.He got the award as he had jumped into the river water aware that another son would take care of his mother.
