Bhagat Singh Birth Place Memorial
It was in 1907 that Bhagat Singh, the famous Indian martyr was born here.[1] Bhagat Singh's ancestral village was near Banga, India, his family had just moved and was living in the canal colonies of called chak 105 GB which in now renamed Banga, Pakistan in Layallpur district (now called Faisalabad district) where people from the area of Banga, India had settled when he was born there. It is very old village. Still there are many historical houses built by sikhs, who migrated to India after the Partition of India.[2]
There is another Bhagat Singh Birth Place Memorial in Pakistan, where Bhagat Singh Memorial Fair in Pakistan annual fair is held, is based in Banga village in Faisalabad District (previously called Lyallpur) in the Punjab province of Pakistan where Bhagat Singh was born in 1907.[2] Government of Pakistan has declared it a national heritage site, Government of Punjab, India has offered help for the purchase and setting up of a world class memorial and the Government of Pakistan has already spent 5 crore rupees to preserve the site.[3][4][5]
