Blue Nation Review

Blue Nation Review is a news website owned by journalist and political activist David Brock.

History

Blue Nation Review was formerly owned by Moko Social Media Limited, a multi-media platform developer. Blue Nation Review was sold to Media Matters for America founder David Brock on November 25, 2015.[1][2] After Blue Nation Review's sale, almost all of its staff were terminated.[3] After its acquisition by David Brock, the website's content has been largely critical of Bernie Sanders and supportive of Hillary Clinton.[4][5] Blue Nation Review endorsed Clinton in January 2016.[5]

Blue Nation Review is known for publishing reports that shed light on the spending habits of former U.S. Representative Aaron Schock (R-Ill.), playing a role in the former Congressman’s eventual resignation. Blue Nation Review's previous owner, Moko Social Media, had spent several hundred thousands of dollars to generate web traffic. After Brock's purchase of Blue Nation Review, he described the website as alternative and independent, saying that Blue Nation Review would produce daily content, including investigative reports and video.[3]

Ownership

Brock formed an investment vehicle, True Blue Media, to own his ownership stake in Blue Nation Review. True Blue Media owns 80% of Blue Nation Review, and Moko Social Media retained a 20% ownership stake.[3] Brock is associated with several Super PACs that support the 2016 presidential campaign of Hillary Clinton. Peter Daou, the new CEO of True Blue Media, had previously served as a digital media strategist for Clinton's 2008 campaign.[3]
