Buffalo Wings & Rings is a Cincinnati-based restaurant franchise concept that offers signature Chicken wings, Burgers, Gyros, specialty salads and sandwiches.[1] Since 1984, the concept has sought to blend the art of homemade sauces and fresh wings with a community-focused model.[2]
History
The original founders established the franchise in Cincinnati in 1982. These owners were bought out in 2005 by a management team led by Philip Schram, Nader Masadeh and Haytham David, each of whom took a senior management role with the company.[3] The new owners created a franchise model for Buffalo Wings & Rings, offering a uniform management system that delivered strong unit-level economic potential.
In 2009, Schram and Masadeh brought franchise veteran Roger David on board as President and CEO. During David's tenure, the company introduced a new flagship restaurant design. In the same year, Haytham David focused on international franchise development, opening restaurants in the Middle East. Schram and Masadeh focused on domestic growth.
Original investor Nader Masadeh moved into the President and CEO's position in early 2014. Under his leadership, Buffalo Wings & Rings plans to continue focusing on perfecting its brand and expansion.
Growth
By 2008, Restaurant Business magazine had named the company number one on its Future 50 list of growing chains,[4] citing its franchising opportunities in the U.S.
In 2011, Buffalo Wings & Rings introduced a new flagship restaurant design with the opening of the franchise location just west of Chicago in Naperville, Ill..[5] The prototype maintained the chain's existing sports theme and multiple television screens, while adjusting lighting and sound levels and updating decor to appeal to a wider audience.[2]
The company released an updated menu in 2012 that improved the quality of their hamburgers and added several salads, wraps and lighter fare to the restaurant's core chicken wing and sandwich offerings.[1]
Buffalo Wings & Rings currently has 45 locations across California, Florida, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Nebraska, North Carolina, North Dakota, Ohio, South Dakota and Texas. There are also 10 Buffalo Wings & Rings franchises in the Middle East.[6]
Sponsorship
Buffalo Wings & Rings began sponsoring Patrick Sheltra's Sheltra Motorsports team in 2008. After the first racing season, Philip Schram increased BW&R's commitment. It was the primary sponsor during Sheltra's title winning season with the 2010 ARCA Racing Series season.
