Burgan Sports Club [1][2] (Arabic: نادي برقان الرياضي ) is one of the newer established sporting clubs [3] in Kuwait, with Al-Qurain SC and has been registered to compete in Kuwait Football Association's domestic competition, the VIVA Premier League, Kuwait Emir Cup, Kuwait Crown Prince Cup, Kuwait Super Cup and Kuwait Federation Cup starting from the 2014–15 official football season.
History
Burgan SC played their first official match on August 17, 2014 in the Kuwaiti Premier League vs Al-Naser SC.
2014–15 Inaugural season
Burgan SC is set to compete in pre-season matches and tournaments inside Kuwait due to it just being added to the football league and would play vs number of teams for Kuwait to get ready for the league. It won 2 unofficial silverware [4][5] during Ramadan of 2014, adding to their closet.[6]
Their first match ended in a 5–0 loss to Al-Naser SC in their league match.[7] There first league goal came against Al-Arabi SC in a 4–1 loss scored by Marzouq Zaki.
Their first historical victory was against Al-Jahra SC on September 7, 2014 which ended 3–2 in which Mohammed Kouli scored and Marzouq Zaki scored twice.[8] and their first draw was against Kuwait SC on September 21, 2014. After 7 weeks in the league, Burgan played 7 games where they lost 3, drew 1 and won 2.[9]
As they drew with Kazma SC on November 22, 2014, they were 3rd in the league with 21 points and recorded 3 losses, 3 draws and 6 wins. After January 3, Burgan dropped to 4th, 3 points behind Qadsia SC with a game in hand.[10][11]

On January 25, 2015, Burgan signed their first official loan deal with Goalkeeper Yousef Al-Saraff from Al-Arabi SC with a buy out option in the summer.[13] Rashid Abdullah Al-Bous said to the press that the team would have to re-evolve to the team at the start of the season and get back to winning form.[14]
After finishing the league, Burgan participated in the Kuwait Federation Cup, and the 14 teams [15] were drawn into 2 groups, and Burgan's group included Qadsia SC, Al-Yarmouk, Khaitan SC, Al Salibikhaet SC, Al-Naser SC and Al-Shabab.[16]
Their first official cup match was against Al Salibikhaet SC which ended in a 2–1 loss,[17] and their first official win was on May 1, 2015, against Al-Shabab 2–0.[18] They ended their season finishing 4th in their group in the Kuwait Federation Cup.[19]
2015–
It was decided by the management and announced on May 7, 2015, that Burgan's first ever pre-season tour will take place in Italy[20]

Burgan exited Kuwait Federation Cup with 2 wins and 4 losses on 18 September 2015. On 27 October 2015 the club management had problems with making profit off the season's budget of the club where 40% of the management disagreed to it which cause major problemz and affected the club's current form on the Federation Cup that season.[21]
On 29th October the club played their first ever match in Kuwait Emir Cup vs Al-Tadamun SC, The match ended with their first ever win in the cup and the goal was scored by Tarik Lugman.[22] On November 15 Fayez Frieh became the new Burganian manager. On April 25 2016 it was stated that the League division one would return for 2017-2018 due to Kuwait Football Association being banned by fifa thus not allowing the tournament to be returned until reinstated by FIFA.
Development
Before Burgan SC was registered, it had entered many friendly matches and friendly competitions, several against KOC FC and against universities ranging from AUK to Kuwait University, their first victory was in 2011.
Their final match as an unregistered team was against the Kuwait Military Gov. FC and they lost 3–2,[23] before joining official competition in the VIVA league and the Domestic Cup.
Burgan have started to scout and build up age group teams from under-14, under-16, under-18, under-21 and boys from ages 9–12 join immediately for the under-12 team due to lack of members.[24]

Burgan SC's crest is represented as a shield of honor of Kuwait and sports, with the Kuwait map and flag and a football representing all kinds of sports.
The first idea of the logo was the same shield but without an English name on it but decided to added due to it being a new team.
Their first logo was introduced in 2007 and was replaced in 2014 after being officiated by the KFA to compete in Kuwait football. The 2014 logo has a larger sized body with a lighter color added to it with the 2007 date added to the logo.
On March 19 2016 the club announced there new logo Where they became the first Kuwaiti team to have a circular Logo.
Club colors
The club colors of the team are light yellow and light blue, although the light yellow was previously dark yellow.[25] but due to the team changing it logo in 2014 it changed into the present light yellow.

Derby's and Classico's
Burgan vs Khaitan SC
Their first derby match happened pre-season 2014, when Burgan beat Khaitan 1–0 and then beat them again in the league 1–0 and 2–0 and then they ended there first season to them with a 7–3 loss.
The season after Burgan defeated then in the federation Cup 8–1.
Under-23 Reserves
Burgan SC competed in all football age divisions in 2014–15 and their first U-23 match took place against Al-Naser SC on August 17.

Volleyball
Burgan SC will make their very first appearance in volleyball next season by joining the Kuwait Volleyball League, but due to low budget, the team was postponed a season.[26]
There First match was played vs Al-Arabi SC on 3 November 2015 ended 3-0 loss in Division One.
The club's biggest record win was recorded 50-15 win over Al-Jahra SC on 16 November 2015.
Beach Volleyball
In April 2016 the club joined the beach Volleyball league and won there first match on 19/4/2016 after there 3rd match in the league against Fahaheel 2-0. [27] As there first season ended the club finished 5th in the league.
Handball
Burgan SC will made their very first appearance in Handball by joining the Kuwait Handball League's 2014–15 season and the Handball Federation Cup.[28] Their first match was vs Kuwait SC with the mark of 19–33, losing their first match. After losing many matches, their first win came against the Khaitan Sporting Club on February 3, 2015.[29]

Burgan SC also competes in Karate and won 1 bronze and 1 gold medal in their debut.

Sponsorship
Since 2007 up to 2011, the club had no kits provided nor any sponsors. After contracting with Nike, since 2012 it has provided kits for the team up until the 2014–15 season. On March 21, 2015, they signed with Givova starting from the 2015–16 football season.[30]
