Capital punishment in Guatemala

Capital Punishment is legal in Guatemala. A moratorium was placed on it from 2000–2010, but the ban was lifted by President Álvaro Colom. He has further stated he will not pardon persons sentenced to death. Currently, the national method of execution is lethal injection. The only crimes punishable by death are aggravated murder and several military and political crimes.
