Cara Renee Gorges (born April 6, 1987) is a beauty queen from Clearwater, Kansas who competed in the Miss USA pageant in 2007.
Gorges won the Miss Kansas USA 2007 title in state pageant held in Lawrence, Kansas on December 17, 2006. This was her first attempt at the title. Gorges was crowned by outgoing titleholder Ashley Aull of Lansing. Her sister titleholder is Jaymie Stokes, Miss Kansas Teen USA 2007, of Lenexa. The pageant was also a reunion event celebrating the fifteen-year anniversary of the Vanbros organisation and featured many former titleholders from Kansas, Oklahoma, Missouri and Nebraska. She was also one of three delegates chosen to participate in a special episode of the NBC game show Identity to be broadcast prior to the pageant on March 23. It was revealed that Gorges used to work as a mortician apprentice once.
Gorges represented Kansas in the Miss USA 2007 pageant which was broadcast live from the Kodak Theatre in Los Angeles, California on March 23, 2007. She placed 2nd runner-up in the nationally televised competition, which was won by Rachel Smith of Tennessee. This was Kansas' first placement since Miss USA 2001, when Lindsay Douglas placed first runner-up. In the final question segment, Gorges gave a strong answer in which she stated that second chances are 'situational' and that 'sometimes they are deserved, and sometimes they are not' in response to a question asked by judge Vanessa Minnillo. This answer was topical as Miss USA 2006, Tara Conner, had been given a second chance by pageant owner Donald Trump. She also placed 4th in swimsuit and 3rd in evening gown.
Her hobbies include experimenting with Antique Cars and target practice, a hobby which she just picked up last year. She sees herself as an outdoorsman, loving the sun since she was a young girl.
As showed on behind the scenes Gorges got a black eye during rehearsal of the dance routine.
Gorges is a cross country runner who graduated from Clearwater High School in 2005.[1] She is an aluma of Butler Community College and The University of Kansas.
