Carlos Matías Sandes (born June 6, 1984 in Mendoza, Argentina) is an Argentine professional basketball player, and member of the Argentine national basketball team. He currently plays for Gimnasia y Esgrima de Comodoro Rivadavia. He is a small forward.

Professional career

Sandes played two seasons (2007–08 and 2008–09) with Baloncesto Fuenlabrada of the Spanish Liga ACB.[1] Prior to his transfer to Spain, he spent five years with Boca Juniors in Argentina. While Sandes was a member of the team, they won two league titles (2003–04 and 2006–07), four Argentine Cups, and three consecutive Campeonato Sudamericano de Clubes.

Argentine national team

Sandes is also a long-time member of the Argentine national basketball team. He participated with the Argentina junior team at the 2003 World Championship for Junior Men and 2005 U-21 World Championship.[2] He made his senior team at the 2007 Marchand Continental Championship Cup.[3] In his most recent appearance with the national team, he averaged 3.6 points and 2.8 rebounds per game in nine games of action at the FIBA Americas Championship 2009 for the bronze-medalists.[4]
