Castelnuovo del Garda is a comune (municipality) in the Province of Verona in the Italian region Veneto, located about 120 kilometres (75 miles) west of Venice and about 15 km (9 mi) west of Verona.
Castelnuovo del Garda borders the following municipalities: Bussolengo, Lazise, Peschiera del Garda, Sona, and Valeggio sul Mincio. It is home to the large Gardaland theme park.
During the First Independence War in 1848, as reprisal for local support given to Italian patriots, the Austrian army made a massacre of civilians. Women and children were among the victims.
