The Israelite Cemetery (Spanish: Cementerio Israelita) of La Paz is the only Jewish cemetery in Uruguay. It was established November 28, 1917.[1] There are several sections dedicated to Jews from different origins: Sephardim, Hungarian, German, Ashkenazim, etc.[2]
In 2014, QR codes are being implemented for its tombstones, in order to enable remote access to cemetery images and know the exact location of every tomb via websites; it is the first cemetery in the world to introduce this innovation.[3]
