Chiluvur (or Chiluvuru) is a village in Guntur district of the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh. It is located in Duggirala mandal of Tenali revenue division.[3][4]
History
Chiluvuru is located in Guntur District, the region which was famous as the hub of the history of Andhra Pradesh. Ancient Satavahanas ruled from the nearby Dhanyakataka / Dharanikota (Amaravati) situated on the bank of Krishna river. In the time of Pallavas and Eastern Chalukyas this region was known as Kammarashtram / Kammanadu, which extended from the southern banks of the Krishna river up to Kandukur (Prakasam Dt.). Subsequently, Eastern Chalukyas and Telugu Cholas held sway in this region. The recent history can be linked to the rule of Vasireddy Venkatadri Nayudu who ruled from Amaravati. The Gali Gopuram (temple tower) in Chiluvuru was built during his time.And also the famous Church Andhra Evangelical Lutheran Church (AELC) is situated.
Demographics
As of 2011 census, Chiluvuru had a population of 7,952. The total population constitute, 3,948 males and 4,004 females —a sex ratio of 1014 females per 1000 males. 774 children are in the age group of 0–6 years, of which 393 are boys and 381 are girls —a ratio of 970 per 1000. The average literacy rate stands at 70.42% with 5,055 literates, significantly higher than the state average of 67.41%.[2][5] In Chiluvuru villages most of the people are Christians approximately 47.62%.
In Chiluvuru village out of total population, 3720 were engaged in work activities. 70.89% of workers describe their work as Main Work (Employment or Earning more than 6 Months) while 29.11% were involved in Marginal activity providing livelihood for less than 6 months. Of 3720 workers engaged in Main Work, 186 were cultivators (owner or co-owner) while 1818 were Agricultural laborer.
Some of the well known persons of Chiluvuru village are Koppula Subbarao He was born in June 1946 in Chiluvuru Village in Duggirala mandal in Guntur district. He joined the All-India Radio, Vijayawada station in Yuva Vani wing in 1972. After three years, he was selected as newsreader and continued his long stint in Vijayawada station. He retired from service in 2006.His voice was more popular among Telugu news listeners.And Devi prasad Katragadda was born in Chiluvuru Village in Guntur district, Andhra Pradesh, India. And also Krishna prasad Katragadda is a prominent NRI businessman who shares a similar vision with his brother(Devi prasad) he has rendered prominent service to the development of rural India through “Katragadda Charities”.
Government
Chilvuru panchayat in Duggirala mandal is represented by Mangalagiri (Assembly constituency) for Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly. It falls under Guntur (Lok Sabha constituency), one of the 25 Lok Sabha constituencies of Andhra Pradesh.[6]
Transport
Chiluvuru railway station is located on Howrah-Chennai main line and administered under Vijayawada railway division of South Central Railway zone.[7] And the road transport NH-5 is located 1.5 km to Chiluvuru.
