Color the Cover (stylized as Color The Cover) is the second cover album by Kumi Koda, following her 2010 ETERNITY ~Love & Songs~.[1][2] It came in at #3 on Oricon and remained on the charts for nine weeks.[3]
Information
Unlike its predecessor, Color The Cover songs were remastered to have a modern vibe, but still hold the tune of the original tracks. The album contains both electronic songs and ballads. Famous covered songs include hide's (deceased member from X Japan) solo song Pink Spider and Shizuka Kudō's Blue Velvet. It also contains the remastered Shake Hip!, originally by the famous Kome Kome Club. For promotions, Koda Kumi performed several songs, including Shake Hip!, with their original artists.[4] It was also the first time Kumi and Kome Kome Club's Tatsuya Ishii shared a stage since Koda Kumi's 2006 single KAMEN.
Alone, originally by Mayo Okamoto, can also be found on Kumi's 2012 December single Koishikute as the b-side.[5]
Background Information
Alone, which is featured on both the album and Koda Kumi's single Koishikute, was the song she performed when she initially auditioned for Avex Trax's dream 2000 auditions. This ultimately led to her being signed to Avex's sub-label Rhythm Zone.
