Cornerstone Schools (Michigan)
Cornerstone Schools is a system of private christocentric schools in Detroit, Michigan, United States. It has its administration departments, pre-K8 campus, and its new "Leadership and Business High School" located on the main Nevada Street Campus, in Detroit.[1][2] Unlike the charter schools that are affiliated with Cornerstone Schools Detroit, the Nevada Campus is funded entirely by private business donations, student-business partnerships, and tuition fees.
Cornerstone Schools previously occupied other campuses, including the K5 Iroquois Campus in Indian Village, Detroit,[3] the pre-K6 Grove Campus in Detroit, and the pre-K8 Redford Campus in Redford Township.[4] In 2009 Cornerstone Schools agreed to allow the Grove and Redford campuses to become charter schools.[5] Besides its charter schools, Cornerstone also has a campus in Uganda.
Cornerstone provides a K-12 education, with the first class graduating from high school in June 2015. The Nevada Street Campus contains the "Cornerstone Business and Leadership High School". This unique high school model offers internships to experience business first-hand, a variety of hands-on and one-on-one learning opportunities, small classroom sizes, an economics program backed by Northwood University, school-provided individual student laptops, Common Core based curriculum, and a religious class about the life and teachings of Jesus.
