Cristina-Andreea Mitu (born 22 September 1991) is a professional Romanian tennis player playing on the WTA Tour circuit and also a member of the Romania Fed Cup team. On 19 April 2015, at Fed Cup, she beat first player ranked in top 10, Eugenie Bouchard, ranked # 7 at that time, in 3 sets, 4-6, 6-4, 6-1. On 8 June 2015, she reached her highest WTA singles ranking of 68 whilst her best doubles ranking was 128, which she reached on 1 February 2016. She is coached by Marius Cristian Onilă.
WTA career
2015: First Slam surprise - round 4 in Paris
Even before winning any WTA title, Mitu made it to the 4th round in 2015 French Open, defeating 6-3 6-2 French wildcard Alizé Lim in 1st round, then making a big surprise by ousting World No.12 Karolína Plíšková 2-6 7-6 6-4, in 2nd round, and again by beating veteran Francesca Schiavone 7-5 6-4. She lost in 4th round to Alison Van Uytvanck 1-6 3-6. This performance pushed Mitu to Top 70.
