Daffodil International University (Bengali: ড্যাফোডিল আন্তর্জাতিক বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়]) (DIU), is a co-educational private university located in Dhanmondi, Dhaka, Bangladesh. It was established on 24 January 2002 under the Private University Act, 1992.[2]

DIU is the first university in Bangladesh to have signed the UN's Commitment to Sustainable Practices of Higher Education Institutions [3]

History

The university was established in 2002 with the approval of the University Grants Commission (Bangladesh)[4] and the Government of Bangladesh's Ministry of Education.

Campuses

The university has multiple campuses within Dhaka. The main campus is located in Dhanmondi and the permanent campus is in Asulia.

DIU authority conferred the D.Litt. Honoris Causa, upon Achyuta Samanta

Daffodil International University authority conferred the D.Litt. Honoris Causa on philanthropist and entrepreneur Achyuta Samanta[10] in DIU's 4th Convocation on the 6th of March 2014.
