Dark pop
Darkpop is a musical subgenre consisting of melodic pop vocals mixed with lyrical themes that take on content of a dark nature. Generally the musical components are made up by the use of heavy synthesizers generally heard in industrial/goth rock, combined with hiphop/techno drums and a sub bass sound that is clearly defined in the mix. The term has been used throughout social media since 2015 through the use of hashtags.
The band Corlyx describes itself as darkpop in promotional campaigns and press releases.
