Playing career
Club
Darragh currently plays for his home club Tourin and college UCC where he was a member of the 2012 Fitzgibbon Cup winning team playing Centre Back.
Inter-county
Fives first played for Waterford as a member of the county's minor team in 2009. It was a successful year for the Decies as they qualified for the Munster final. Tipperary provided the opposition, however, it was Fives's side who claimed the Munster title by 0-18 to 1-13.[2] Waterford's run of success came to an end in the All-Ireland semi-final with a comprehensive defeat by Galway.
Fives was still eligible for the minor grade in 2010. Waterford qualified for a second consecutive Munster decider with Clare providing the opposition. A 1-16 to 1-11 defeat saw Fives end up on the losing side.[3]
By 2011 Fives had joined both the Waterford under-21 and senior teams. He made his senior debut at corner-back in the first round of the National Hurling League against Dublin and retained his position on the starting fifteen for the championship. To date Fives is currently on the Waterford senior team and U21 team where he has 2 more years to play out in that grade.
