David Torrance (born 13 March 1961) is a Scottish National Party, elected member of the Scottish Parliament for the Kirkcaldy constituency in 2011.

Background History

Born in Kirkcaldy, he was educated at Balwearie High School, and Adam Smith College, where he gained an HND Mechanical Engineering. He is a member of the Scout Association as a Leader since 1979 and is also the Assistant District Commissioner for Kirkcaldy District Scouts.

Career

He joined the Scottish National Party in 1981 and has been a Fife local councillor since 1995. He has worked for British Gas, Alcan Chemicals, Bosch Rexroth before going into politics full-time in 2007, working for Christopher Harvie MSP.
