Critical reviews
"Dead in the Water" received positive reviews. Diana Steenbergen of IGN gave the episode an "great" 8.2 out of 10 and wrote, "The show is back on track after last episode's debacle with an engaging story centering on a woman and her child who are endangered by an evil spirit haunting a lake. The scare factor is better this week than last, especially in the opening scenes showing a girl being dragged under the water while swimming out in the middle of the lake. Anyone who saw Jaws will feel a familiar sense of fear at the camera's view from the bottom of the lake up to the innocent girl swimming above. Later in the story, the girl's brother is killed by being drowned in a sink. That doesn't sound like it should work as well as it does in the scene, but I guess if you're not expecting your sink to be evil you could be caught off guard like this boy was. It is also a good creepy moment."[3]
