Dear Hank & John is a podcast hosted by YouTube entrepreneur Hank Green and young-adult novelist and film producer, John Green. The podcast is produced and edited by Nicholas Jenkins with additional help from Rosianna Halse Rojas and the podcast's intern, Claudia Morales. First released in June 2015, Hank and John Green answer questions e-mailed by listeners, give "dubious" advice and talk about the weekly news for the planet Mars and the 4th tier English football club AFC Wimbledon. Episodes are usually around 45 minutes in length however it varies for every episode.[1] Upon the podcast's debut, it reached the number 4 position on the US iTunes performance chart and hit a peak position of number 2 two days later. Dear Hank & John has also been charted on iTunes in the United Kingdom, Germany, France, Italy, Canada, Spain, Australia and Brazil.[2] The podcast has a wide variety of sponsors however it is primarily funded through the crowdfunding website Patreon.[3]

Episode Format

Episodes typically begin with John Green reading a short poem, often about the human condition and the inevitability of death. The subsequent section, being the primary focus of the podcast, centers on the Green brothers answering e-mailed questions from listeners and giving "dubious" advice. Both hosts have consistently reiterated throughout the podcast that their advice are questionable and should be taken with a grain of salt. Hank and John Green finish the podcast with news about Mars and AFC Wimbledon respectively; both topics being a passionate topic for them.[4]
