Delhi Public School, Rourkela, (or DPS Rourkela) is a school in the district of Sundergarh, Odisha, Sector-14, Rourkela, India. The school is affiliated to the Central Board of Secondary Education, New Delhi. Delhi Public School is run by Delhi Public School Society.
DPS Rourkela is one of the mother schools of the DPS Society. It was directly established by the society and not franchised.
The school is affiliated to the Central Board of Secondary Education for classes from Nursery to XII. The principal is Mr. Sidhartha Ratha.
History
The co-aid school was established on 20 August 1992, in collaboration with the public sector undertaking Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) SAIL. They provided 16 acres of land and assistance. The school was functioning first in Sector-18 and in 2004 it was shifted to Sector-14, Rourkela.
Facilities
The school has facilities for cricket, football, basketball, tennis, badminton,Athletics etc. Coaches train in these sports. DPS Rourkela provides opportunities for the students to develop their interests in public speaking, quizzing, environment awareness and conservation, dance, music, and art.
The school has a Primary Resource Room, Science Laboratories, Mathematics Laboratory, Computer Rooms with LCD and OHP facilities, playgrounds and gardens, Audio Visual Rooms and a library.
There are 4 computer Computer labs of 48 computers each are the best labs in the country. Having 2 MBPS leased line internet connection. The Science Labs are also having all the equipment and matching to the labs of a premiers institutions.
The class rooms are equipped with smart class rooms facilities, digital board and projectors.
Courses
- The school has 3,200 students from Kindergarten (Nursery), Class I to XII, with Science, Commerce and Humanities at Senior Secondary level.
- It prepares the students of Class X and XII for CBSE examinations AISSE, AISSCE, JEE (Main & Advanced), AIPMT etc.
- It prepares the students of Class X for NTSE (National Talent Search Examination).
- It prepares the students for Different Olympiad Examinations.
Activities
Students are divided into five houses - Ganga (blue), Kaveri (yellow), Mahanadi (red), Narmada (green) and Saraswati(light blue).
