Delilah Judy Alvares is an actress, model and writer. She is well-known in films and television before entering modeling world where she was part of important fashion-shows like Lakme Fashion Week.
Personal life
Alvares was born in Al-Sabah, Kuwait, the daughter of Mario Daniel Alvares and Late Debra Rodriguez. With a life between Kuwait and England, just after the early death of her mother, she found her home in Birmingham with her father's side of the family. Her father soon re-married and a few years later, she was disowned by her family, following which, her mother's sister Judy Caleb, adopted her immediately.[2]
Career
As an actress
Alvares reportedly anchored live shows and parties for extra pocket money during her early days.[3] She struggled her way into noteworthy plays as an actor and writer, like Four wonders as the mental sister, Ms. Brown as the lead character, Drunkard as the lead character, Murder Mystery in a double role of a mentally challenged child and the psychopath, Schizophrenia as the schizophrenic , The prostitute from Baina as the prostitute, that was critically reviewed negatively as being too vulgar for theatre and Money makes the world go round as the supporting character.[3]
She was then offered short films Expect the Unexpected, Poonam, Kismat, supporting characters in feature movies and television shows like Diary of a Gypsy and others, special appearance on Channel V – Dil, Dosti, Dance, TV commercials like Rubicon fruit juice, Fastrack, CMYK, Canon Power shot – what makes us click with Anushka Sharma and music videos, among which were Khabir Moraes's "Gopan Io" by Milroy Goes and "Vote Tit for Tat" by Remo Fernandes.[4][5][3]
As a model
As a model she's walked the runway for various designers in the fashion industry, some of which are Ken Ferns, Lakme Fashion Week, Loreal-Bridal look, SummerTime 2011, Music festival-2011, Mr. Goa 2010, North-Ease Breeze show, Monty Sally, Wendell Rodricks, Verma d'mello, Jyostsna Bhat, Philu Martins, Yana Nagoba, Gitanjali Jewellery,[6] and worked with many photographers around the world like Frimson's Chicago, Walk through magazine-Dubai, Marlboro-United Kingdom, Prasad Pankar, Fabian Rodrigues, Seema Amonkar, Jayavanti Loundo, Henry Nazareth, Datta Gawade, Siddhesh Naik, Brijesh Kakodkar, Krupa Tamhankar, Chetana Bhat, Mubarak Khan, Ryan D'souza, Ashok Pol, Gautam Pai, Pooja Lawande Karmali, Nidhi Tar, Gautam Karkal, Pratik Chari, Manohar Chari, Hemant Parab, Ashley D'souza, Ashu Dhond, Ashwin Shukla, Sheldon Rodrigues, Sharad Khot Photography, Au Point photography, 'Out of the Box' Photography, Crispino Dourado and many more.[7]
As a writer
Alvares is currently a published author with a U.S.-based publishing house Christopher Matthews Publishing, that also owns the imprint of Soul Fire Press, who published her first fiction novel series, The Maze.[8][9]
Controversies
Anorexia
In 2013, the media referred to Alvares as anorexic, where she later disclosed the rumor was false and misleading through a Magazine Interview.[10]
