Rajasekhar (born Rajasekhar Varadharajan on 4 February 1962) is an Indian film actor known for his works predominantly in Telugu cinema and few Tamil films. In a career spanning more than thirty years, he acted in a variety of roles.[1][2][3] He starred in Blockbusters films like Talambralu,Shrutilayalu,Aahuti, Ankusam, Magadu, Allari Priyudu,Anna,Omkaram, Suryudu, Sivayya, Manasunna maaraju,Maa Annayya,Simha Raasi,Evadithe Nakenti & Gorintaku. The film Anna which premiered at International Film Festival of India.[4][5][6] In 1994, Anna film won so many accolades including 3 Nandi Awards & Rajasekhar won Filmfare Award for Best Actor - Telugu for that year.

Early life

Rajasekhar was born in Lakshmipuram, Theni district of Tamil Nadu in a Tamil family to D. C Varadharajan, a retired Police Officer and Andalu Pillai.[7] His brother Selva has also appeared in Tamil film as a lead actor. Before joining films, he studied M. B. B. S. and practiced in Chennai. He married erstwhile Telugu actress Jeevitha and has two daughters.[8] His daughter Shivani would debut in films with upcoming movie Vanda Ki Vanda.[9]

Career

Rajashekhar made his Telugu film debut in 1985 with Vande Mataram. Since then, he has acted in variety of films like Pratighatana, Repati Pourulu, Station Master, Shrutilayalu, Kashmora, Aradhana, Talambralu, Aruna Kiranam, Mamatala Kovela and Akka Mogudu.

After that he acted in movies that created an image as an Angry Young Man in movies like Ahuti, Aartanaadam Nyayam Kosam, Ankusam, Magadu, Rowdyism Nasinchali, Morotodu Na Mogudu, Anna, Papa Kosam, Balarama Krishnulu, Agraham and Sivaiya"Evadaithe Nakenti".

Later he also gained fame for his drama films like Ma Ayana Bangaram, Suryudu, Simha Raasi, Ma Annaya, Deergha Sumangali Bhava,Manasunna Maaraju and Gorintaku. He was also applauded for his performance in romance film Allari Priyudu. He tried his hand in comedy with Na Style Veru which was well received by audiences.

He is considered as a versatile actor. His performance in Omkaram is a classic example of that, which was directed by Kannada director Upendra. His electrifying performance in movie Sheshu was applauded critically. His Biggest hit of the career came in year 2007 "Avadaithe Nakenti" & His Last Genuine hit is "Gorintaku" in the year 2008. Since then he has not got a Hit. His last film was "Gaddam Gang" in 2015.

His next venture is Movie "Aham" directed by Teja where he is portraying as Antagonist.
