Durant, Polk County, Nebraska
Durant is an unincorporated community in Polk County, Nebraska, in the United States.[1]
History
Durant was established when the Union Pacific Railroad was extended to that point, during the building of the First Transcontinental Railroad.[2]
In popular culture
A town called Durant, Nebraska features at the end of season 1 and the beginning of season 2 of the AMC-TV series Hell on Wheels. A nod to the real-life Durant, Polk County, Nebraska. Season 2, episode 2 is titled "Durant, Nebraska". In this episode of the tv-series the town of Durant, Nebraska is ransacked by Indians. The town was never rebuilt.
