Edwin Henry Fitler

Edwin Henry Fitler (December 2, 1825 in Philadelphia May 31, 1896 in the Torresdale section of Philadelphia) was a Pennsylvania manufacturer of cordage and a politician. A Republican, he served as Presidential Elector for Pennsylvania in 1876 and Mayor of Philadelphia, 1887–1891.

He was a member of The Philadelphia Club [1] and later the Philadelphia Union League, of which he served as president.

Fitler died in 1896 in Philadelphia, where he is buried in Laurel Hill Cemetery.

Fitler Square and an elementary school in Philadelphia are named in his honor. He was the grandfather of Happy Rockefeller, second wife of Vice President Nelson Rockefeller.
