El-Marg

El-Marg (Arabic: المرج  pronounced [elˈmæɾɡ]) alternatively Al-Marj is an administrative ward (kism) of Cairo, in north-east of Cairo Governorate, bordering Qalyubia Governorate near Shubra El-Kheima city. It was separated from As-Salam district (to its south) as of 1 April 1994. Its residential area that is densely populated. It covers 16.94 square kilometers, with 251,589 people in 1996 census, increasing to 507,035 in 2006 census.[1]
