El Parián Commercial Passage

The pasaje comercial El Parián (Commercial Passage El Parián) is a commercial plaza that holds stores and restaurants located in the Colonia Roma.[1]

Description

It is located in the Colonia Roma on Alvaro Obregón Avenue number 130 in the Cuauhtémoc Borough in Mexico City.

History

“El Parián” (which means “The Market”), began as a commercial passage in 1883. After the 1985 Mexico City earthquake it was occupied by the earthquake´s victims, then it became a market, and it was finally turned into a commercial and cultural passage with stores and restaurants. Today it is one of the symbols of the rebirth of the Colonia Roma.
