El maleficio (English title: The curse) is an Mexican telenovela produced by Ernesto Alonso for Televisa in 1983.[1][2]The telenovela was so successful in 1983 that a sequel was made under the title of El maleficio 2: Los enviados del infierno in 1986.[3][4]

Ernesto Alonso starred as antagonistic protagonist and Jacqueline Andere starred as protagonist, while Humberto Zurita starred as antagonist. Norma Herrera, María Sorté and Carmen Montejo starred as stellar performances.

Plot

Beatriz is a respectable widow, who since the death of her husband, has lived dedicated to raising their children, Vicky (Erika Buenfil) and Juanito with his mother Doña Emilia. Beatriz knows the powerful billionaire Enrique De Martino who dazzles with his attentions and agrees to marry him.
