Ellinair is a Greek airline. It was established in February 2013, while its first flight was operated in February 2014.[4] The airline operates direct flights from its main hub at Thessaloniki International Airport and from Athens International Airport. During the summer season there are additional direct flights for international destinations from Corfu International Airport.

History

The new airline was established on February 19, 2013 and its first flight was operated in February 2014.[4] The company is a member of Mouzenidis Group, and it was originally created in order to serve the high volume of tourists, mainly from Russia, who visit Greece by Mouzenidis Travel. In October 2014, Ellinair flights were incorporated in all the Global Distribution Systems (GDSs), in order to ensure accessibility to all tourist agencies. On June 15, 2015 Ellinair launched new domestic routes from Athens and Thessaloniki.

The name Ellinair is a combination of the words “Έλλην” (Ellin - "Greek") and “air”.
