Elvis Depressedly is an American indie band from Asheville, North Carolina.[1] The band was formed by Coma Cinema frontman Mat Cothran.[2][3]

History

Elvis Depressedly formed in 2011 with the release of Save The Planet Kill Yourself (initially titled Selfless Violence ). Before the end of the year, Goner and Disgraceland were released. In 2012 Mat Cothran played his first show as Elvis Depressedly, playing the entirety of Mickey's Dead, released later that year on Orchid Tapes. [4] The album was named one of the best free albums of 2012 by The Social.[5]Hotter Sadness was released at the end of 2012. It features more of a lo-fi sound when compared with previous releases as Cothran's digital recorder was malfunctioning, forcing him to record on tape. Holo Pleasures, released via Birdtapes in 2013 was a breakthrough of sorts, giving him more exposure than any previous release.[6][7] In November of 2014, the band signed to Run For Cover Records.[8] In 2015, the band released a new album titled New Alhambra.[9] They went on a short tour following the release of New Alhambra.[10] Later that year they announced they would reissue their 2013 effort Holo Pleasures along with a few outtakes from the era, releasing it with the title Holo Pleasures II/California Dreamin'. It will be released on June 3, 2016.
