Entertainer (Hangul: 딴따라; RR: Ttanttara) is a 2016 South Korean television series starring Ji Sung, Lee Hyeri, Kang Min-hyuk and Chae Jung-an. It airs on SBS on Wednesdays and Thursdays at 21:55 for 16 episodes, beginning April 20, 2016.[1][2]

Synopsis

Shin Suk-ho (Ji Sung) is a successful director who works for KTOP entertainment, a large entertainment company. After he decides to become independent and tries to develop his own company, he suddenly goes through many hardships and loses everything. But then, he finds a talented singer, a high school student named Jo Ha-neul (Kang Min-hyuk) and promises to turn him into a famous musician. The most shocking thing is that Ha-neul is an ex-convict and was accused as a sexual abuser by his friend. Shin Seok-ho starts an all-pure new journey with Ha-neul's group 'Entertainer Band' (Ddandara band/ 딴다라 벤드), his loyal friends and Jung Geu-rin (Lee Hyeri), Ha-neul's hard-working sister.

Suk-ho works as a director for a big entertainment company, KTOP Entertainment. He is a cunning and self-centered person when it comes to work. In fact, he already knows that the 'entertainment world' is a cruel world and the 'entertainers' don't have a free life. After he decided to become independent and build his own company, he experienced many hardships, miserable situations and betrayals. Those situations made him become more kind and respectful to others. At first he only used Jo Ha-neul with a specific reason for his company's sake and promised him to make him a known singer, but after getting to know him better, he sincerely wanted Ha-neul to become a famous and successful musician. Shin Suk-ho has great observations to find 'Entertainers' because of his long experience in the entertainment world.

Geu-rin is the guardian/big sister of Jo Ha-neul. She lost her parents at the age of eight and Ha-neul's family gladly adopted her in the absence of their dead son, Jo Ha-neul's big brother. They took care of her like she's their real daughter. So after their death after a car accident, she promised to repay their kindness by taking care of their only son, Ha-neul. Because of financial problems, she had to work 3-4 part-time jobs a day.

Jo Ha-neul is a high school student in his last year. Even thought he has an arrogant personality he actually is a kind teenager with an amazing talent in music. His life was ruined after his best friend, Lee Ji-young, accused him for sexually abusing her. With the record he had, he faced rejection, hatred and was bullied in school. It also made it harder for him to become a musician, because there will be negative attitude from people towards him, his band-mates, Geu-rin and Seok-ho. Shin Seok-ho decided to help him by looking for the real abuserin order to clear Ha-neul's reputation.

Min-joo is Seok-ho's loyal work-mate and friend for about 10 years so she always helps him. She is working in 'Ocean Music' and she is a trusted news source. She seems to have an interest in Seok-ho but he never sees her that way.

People around Shin Suk-ho

Jang Man-sik is a songwriter who already couple times work with KTOP Entertainment. He already had a long friendship with Seok-ho and Min-joo.

KTOP

He is the CEO of the most big entertainment company in korea, KTOP Entertainment. His outer looking seems to be very kind, but he is very intimidated for his work. He do many things to make Seok-ho trough all the hard things and make his entertainment company not gonna stand.

Kim Joo-han used to be Seok-ho's assistant at KTOP Entertainment. Before Seok-ho departures from company, CEO of KTOP order him to backlash Seok-ho and betray him in exchange he will change his position as the new director. Kim Joo-han seems to be had a connection with Lee Ji-young abuse case.

Band members

Jae-hoon is a student in the Seoul University and belongs to a well-to-do family. He loves playing drums in his free time. He seems like a Mama's boy which is why Shin Suk Ho hides from him that the Entertainer band comprises an ex convict (Ha-nuel) and a single young dad (Yun-so). But when Kyle reveals it to him, he surprisingly becomes elated about being part of such a bizarre band.

Kyle is a guitarist who was studying Julliard. He decided to quit Julliard to find new way, he scouted by Shin Seok-ho after his performing as an extra guitarist in a random indie-band performance. At first he decided to quit from Ha-neul's band because Ha-neul had a sexual abuser record while Yun-soo is a single dad in 20s, but he decided to trusted Ha-neul that he is innocence and stay because of Ha-neul talent. His position is Guitarist.

Yun-soo is a humble and polite person also a single dad, he used to work as a guitarist at a night club. He met Shin Seok-ho for the first time in his club, he thankful to Seok-ho for understanding that his guitar is precious for him and only him who can used the guitar. He felt respected as an 'entertainer'. After he heard the news Shin Seok-ho build an own company ,he come to him and ask to work for him. At first Seok-ho refused because he is a single dad and had a son (named Chan-Hee), but after that Seok-ho decided to let him in to the band. His position is bass.

She is a member of girl group named 'Lucy girl' and she is dating Ji-nu, member of boy-band 'Jackson'. Both of their group belong to same company 'KTOP Entertainment'.

He is a personal trainer in KTOP originally hired by Shin Suk-Ho

She is a KTOP Entertainment trainee for eight years, but she suddenly leave group near her debut because she doesn't accept that her part is shared with Lee Ji-young. After her departure her stage name 'Luna' given to Lee Ji-young.
