Eos Counsell (born 27 January 1976),[1][2] sometimes credited as Eos, is the second violinist of the all-female classical crossover string quartet Bond.
Counsell has an honours degree from the Royal College of Music in London and is from Cardiff, Wales.[3]
Before Bond, her work included writing string arrangements and playing with many pop groups including The Divine Comedy, Cocteau Twins, Julian Cope, Gabrielle and Mark Knopfler.
Her brother-in-law is the Welsh tenor Wynne Evans, best known for playing the role of Gio Compario in the Go Compare advertisements on British television.
Counsell worked as Benedict Cumberbatch's violin coach for "A Scandal in Belgravia", an episode of the BBC television series Sherlock. Although Counsell's playing is on the actual soundtrack, Cumberbatch was required to appear to be an expert violinist. To achieve this, Counsell was positioned on set so that Cumberbatch could synchronise his playing with hers.[4]
