Erin Colton (born Erin Ashley Colton, May 15, 1982, Long Island, NY) is a New York Emmy Award-winning American news reporter for News 12 Long Island and MSG Varsity.

Life and career

Erin Colton grew up in Wantagh, NY, in Nassau County on Long Island. As a child, Colton took a strong interest in sports, which blossomed into varsity-level competition during her teenage years. She played on the varsity basketball, tennis and lacrosse teams for the Wantagh Warriors of Wantagh High School until graduating in 2000.

In the Fall of 2000, Colton began attending Syracuse University, pursuing a communications degree at the Newhouse School of Communications. Following her graduation in 2004, Colton joined News 12 Long Island and began her broadcasting career as a production assistant. She graduated to the position of writer shortly after, followed by producer. In 2007, Colton graduated to sports anchor and reporter, covering sports for not only News 12 Long Island but also for its sister station, MSG Varsity. Colton currently stands as the Morning Reporter at News 12 Long Island, covering breaking news from the field.

In addition to her professional interest in sports, Colton also pursues the field in her private life, coaching a girls' youth basketball team in her native Long Island.

Colton won a 2010 New York Emmy Award in the category of Sports Coverage: Series, for her series entitled "Iron Inspiration," which told the story of a Long Island man who overcame drug and alcohol addiction by training for triathlons. Colton followed his journey up to Lake Placid, where he achieved his goal by finishing an Ironman competition.
