Awards Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross

Ernst Johann Rupp (13 January 1892 – 30 May 1943) was a highly decorated Generalleutnant in the Wehrmacht during World War II who commanded the 97. Jäger-Division. He was also a recipient of the Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross. The Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross was awarded to recognise extreme battlefield bravery or successful military leadership. Ernst Rupp was killed on 30 May 1943, near Krymsk, Russia during the defense of the Kuban bridgehead.
