Willy Apitz

Willy Apitz (27 January 1916 – 28 February 2004) was a German Unteroffizier in the Wehrmacht during World War II. Apitz was born on 27 January 1916 in Zanin near in Landsberg an der Warthe, present-day Gorzów Wielkopolski. As a corporal, and radio operator in the 10 company of artillery regiment 81, he received the Knight's Cross on 1 January 1944. Later promoted to corporal, Apitz died on 28 February 2004 in Penzing, Bavaria.
