The Football Players Association of India (FPAI) is the sole representative body of all professional players across India.[1] It was founded in 2006 and has been a full member of FIFPro, the worldwide body for professional players, since 2008. Registered under the Society's Act, the FPAI also became a partner of FIFA in 2009.[1] Its headquarters are located in Kolkata, West Bengal, India. Former Indian national footballer and captain, Baichung Bhutia was the President of FPAI from its inauguration till 2013, alongside being Asia's representative in the FIFPro World Technical Committee. The current President is Renedy Singh, also a former Indian player. The FPAI is planning a new way to choose the "Fans Player of the Year Award". The process will be both online and offline. Those who want to vote offline can do it through postcards. Combining online and offline votes the "Fans Player of the year award" will be chosen.
