Faye Barker (born 14 March 1977 in Winchester, Hampshire) is a British journalist and presenter employed by ITN.
Career
She began her career at the London based (European Business News), an affiliate of CNBC, in October 1996.[1]
After becoming a production journalist for ITN, she later made her on-screen TV debut for 5 News on Channel 5, where she was a presenter and reporter.
In 2001, she landed a presenting job for the regional evening news magazine Calendar on ITV Yorkshire.
From 2003 until 2005, she reported for Package Holiday Undercover on ITV. In 2004 she narrated the documentary series St Jimmys.
In 2005, Faye begun freelancing with various news outlets based in London. She appeared on the ITV News Channel, the ITV News at 5:30 on ITV, ITV News London on ITV London, Setanta Sports News, Sky News and 5 News on Channel 5.
On 23 December 2005, she and Owen Thomas presented the final broadcast on the ITV News Channel.
In Autumn 2007 she made a cameo appearance playing a journalist in episode two of the ITV drama Whistleblowers.
On 12 January 2009 she was appointed the main newscaster of the ITV News at 5:30 on ITV[2] and newsreader of news updates during Daybreak for ITV News London on ITV London. During her time on the ITV News at 5:30, she became a regular presenter of other ITV News London bulletins as well as presenter of the ITV News Weekend Daytime bulletins on a rotation basis. On 14 December 2012 she presented her final ITV News at 5:30 broadcast, she continues with ITN across ITV London & ITV News output.
Personal life
Barker was born in Winchester, Hampshire, and grew up in Devon. She is married and her wedding took place at Bickleigh Castle, Devon, in 2007.[3] In February 2010 she gave birth to her first child, a daughter. Her second child, and second daughter, was born due July 2013.
Faye has also done a certain amount of work for charity including presenting fashion shows for cancer charities. She was also part of the on-screen team at the International Broadcasting Convention in Amsterdam in 2006.[4]
