Federal Investigative Services Division
Federal Investigative Services (FIS) is a U.S. governmental agency within the Office of Personnel Management that is responsible for performing background checks on federal personnel.[1][2] In January of 2016 the Obama administration announced that the agency would be replaced with the new National Background Investigations Bureau, following a series of intelligence failures and exposed corruption.[3]
