Fitraak News (Urdu: فتراک نیوز) is a Pakistan-based politically liberal online news aggregator founded by renown Pakistani Journalist Waseem Tarar and owned by Tarar Media Corporation.[2] The site offers news, satire, and original content and covers politics, business, entertainment, environment, technology, popular media, lifestyle, culture, comedy, healthy living, women's interests, and local news of Pakistan.[4] Fitraak News was launched on August 14, 2015 with the aim of bringing a revolutionary change in digital media industry of Pakistan and alternative to news aggregators such as the Urdu Point.[5] In 2015, Fitraak News became the first commercially run Pakistan digital media enterprise to introduce high definition HD online news services.

Fitraak News has more than 10 million Pageviews monthly.[6] In September 2015 one month after launching Fitraak News was ranked #1 on the top 10 fastest growing news aggregators of Pakistan list by Social Bakers, which bases its list on different elements and factors including each site's Alexa Global Traffic Rank.[7]

History

Fitraak News was founded by Waseem Tarar in June 4, 2015 and launched on August 14, 2015. It has an active community, with over 10 million people monthly and each person stay more than 7 mints on the site.

Prior to Fitraak News, Tarar launched an aggregator in December 2014 known as W News which was banned by Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) due to unknown reasons.

After this Fitraak News was launched in August 14, 2015.

Influence

According to company, the site has more than ten million page visits monthly. An independent report says, "Fitraak News coverage affects the Pakistani online and traditional media's political coverage ". A former media adviser to Pervez Musharraf, said that he checked the site 30–40 times per day.

Controversies

Before launching, Fitraak News was targeted by some elements to defame it by continuous propaganda. There were rumors in Social Media that a Pakistani Billionaire Malik Riaz Hussain is going to invest in it[4] but at June 4, 2015 Hamid Mir deny this news and says that he has informed his reader by his columns that all Facebook accounts under his name are not authentic.[8] After this Fitraak News also deny any involvement of Malik Riaz and endorse the statement of Mr Mir.[9]

In July 15, 2015 Fitraak News release a secret Letter of Nasir Durrani, IG Police KPK in which he declared Imran Khan a VIP while Imran Khan continuously use a slogan of anti VIP-Culture.[10] After some time Fitraak News release a Letter of Abid Sher Ali who was a Federal Minister of Water and Power on that time in which he illegally order to allot a transformer to a PML-N's official.[11] Both letter become Controversial on Social Media and Fitraak News was strongly criticized by workers of both PTI and PML-N.

Waseem Tarar has stated that "Fitraak News is totally unbiased, neutral, and not positioned ideologically in terms of his policy and coverage. Fitraak News believe in rule of law and true positive journalism which covers what really the truth is."
