Flying Witch (ふらいんぐうぃっち Furaingu Uitchi) is a Japanese manga series by Chihiro Ishizuka. It has been serialized since September 2012 in Kodansha's shōnen manga magazine Bessatsu Shōnen Magazine and collected in three tankōbon volumes. The manga was first published as a one-shot on July 9, 2010 in the same magazine.
Plot
The story is about Makoto, a young witch from Yokohama, that moves to Aomori to live with some relatives as part of her training. What follows is Makoto's daily life as she gets used to her new environment and her relatives and the new friends she makes there are introduced to the customs and peculiarities of witchcraft.

- Makoto Kowata (木幡 真琴 Kowata Makoto)
- Voiced by: Minami Shinoda
- The main character and a witch in training who moves to live with her relatives in Aomori. She is a polite and kind girl who is also bad with directions and is more focused with preparing potions than casting spells. She has a black cat familiar named Chito.
- Chinatsu Kuramoto (倉本 千夏 Kuramoto Chinatsu)
- Voiced by: Eri Suzuki
- Kei's little sister and Makoto's cousin. Originally wary of Makoto and thought of her as strange when they first met, she quickly came to like her after Makoto took her flying on a broom. She is fascinated with magic and eagerly watches Makoto when she does something that involves witchcraft or something supernatural. She also enjoys sweets.
- Kei Kuramoto (倉本 圭 Kuramoto Kei)
- Voiced by: Shinsuke Sugawara
- Chinatsu's older brother and Makoto's cousin.
- Nana Kuramoto (倉本 奈々 Kuramoto Nana)
- Voiced by: Kikuko Inoue
- Kei and Chinatsu's Mother. She is familiar with the world of witchcraft and doesnt find some of the odd things that happen because of Makoto strange at all.
- Akane Kowata (木幡茜 Kowata Akane)
- Voiced by: Kana Aoi
- Makoto's older sister and a full fledged witch. She contrasts Makoto in both personality and appearance. While Makoto is polite and soft spoken, Akane is more brash and loud mouthed, but still just as kind. She also has tanned skin and white hair, which contrasts with Makoto's pale skin and black hair. Makoto mentioned that many people say that they don't have much in common. She cares deeply for Makoto and takes time off from her travels all around the world to visit and to check on her sister. She also has a white cat familiar named Kenny.
- Nao Ishiwatari (石渡なお Ishiwatari Nao)
- Voiced by: Shiori Mikami
- Kei's friend who's family runs a liquor store.
- Inukai (犬養)
- Voiced by: Mari Hino
- A witch that specializes in fortune telling and also Akane's friend. After a night of heavy drinking, she became an anthropomorphic dog because she ate some chocolate made by Akane which can to turn humans into animals. As the chocolates didnt work correctly, she now has a face, ears, and tail of a dog and furry skin, and she can only return to her full human form at night. She has been looking for a way to contact Akane for a year to find a cure and return her to a human form permanently. Due to her half animal appearance, she wears a cloak that covers her face and body so she doesnt draw attention. Kei admits that she is his type of girl when in human form, and even Akane admits that she is very cute.

| A rookie witch named Makoto Kowata goes to live with her relatives in Aomori. Her younger cousin Chinatsu thinks Makoto is a weirdo for talking to her cat all the time, but is quickly won over by a trip to a shopping mall, where Makoto demonstrates flying on a broomstick with her. The next day, Makoto attends a normal high school with her older cousin Kei and his friend Nao. After letting slip some details of what witches do, Makoto walks back home with Nao at the end of the day. She stumbles upon a wild mandrake root and pulls it out of the ground, offering it as a present to Nao, but Nao declines. | ||

| Chinatsu is scared by the appearance of a strange tall man at their house, but Makoto recognizes him as the Harbinger of Spring, and offers him a piece of the mandrake root she collected from before. The Harbinger gives her a bouquet of wildflowers as a peace offering for scaring Chinatsu. Later, on the way home from school, Makoto tells Nao that she had a dream that indicated good luck in her future. Makoto and Kei pick some wild fuki shoots off the side of the road and later fry them in tempura batter for a snack, while Nao sits elsewhere and wonders what form her supposed good luck might take. | ||

| Makoto offers to help work on the family garden behind the house, along with Kei and Chinatsu. After pulling up several weeds, she spots a pheasant and chases it around the garden. Some time later, Makoto's sister Akane takes a break from her Africa trip to say hello to Makoto and her Aomori family. After handing out odd gifts from her trip, Akane teaches Makoto a spell to summon a wild crow using a girl's black hair, but Makoto accidentally makes the spell too powerful with her own hair and summons a whole murder of crows. | ||
